Harela Festival is celebrated thrice a year in the state of Uttarakhand which is know as ‘Deva-Bhumi’. Harela literally means the ‘day of Green’ ; it is festival dedicated to mother nature when people worship Shiva-Parvati and plant tree saplings. We have brought this green festival of Uttarakhand to Delhi with a tree plantation drive. We started our project of planting tree saplings from the Rohini Prison Complex on the 17th of July on the day of Karka Samkranti when Harela festival is celebrated. On Wednesday at 11:00 am the volunteers of our society gathered at the gate of Rohini Sector 16 Prison Complex for planting 50 trees saplings in the compound of the jail. We were been invited by the Jail Superintendent Shri Prakash Panday who not only granted us the required permissions for this tree plantation venture but also arranged for the helpers to do the needful.
Below given are the photographs of our volunteers who participated in this tree plantation project. In the next one month we will be conducting more such tree plantation events at places like Ballabhgarh (Haryana) , Dwaraka, Rohini Rig Area and in Almora (Uttarakhand) with an ambition of planting more than 1000 trees saplings during this entire monsoon season.
